Electrical Information

Mr Hot Tubs Electrical Connection Information


All electrical work must be carried out by a competent electrician, and must comply in all aspects with current I.E.E. Regulations and be in accordance with all the recommendations of the NICEIC.


All electrical equipment within the room or within the possible flooding area must:


A. Be protected by an RCD of the current balance type,of not more than 30mA sensitivity, and shall be mounted at least 1 metre above the floor.


B. Be securely earthed


C. Be properly encased so that it is not possible for contact to be made with live connections without either switching off the main supply and then unlocking or unscrewing the case.


No socket outlet shall be installed within 3 metres of the spa/hot tub this is also to include lighting circuits. All electrical equipment inside these boundaries shall be further protected by a pyhsical barrier, grills etc. Drainage arrangements must also be taken into consideration.


Domestic Self Contained Spas


Electrical standards for all plant equipment shall be permanently installed to mains electrics using the correct cable and RCD.


Maintenance


Mr Hot Tubs will also instruct the tub owner to check the operation of the RCD by pressing the test button at least once every month.
